Memorably described by Cosmopolitan magazine as ‘keeping you reading while your dinner burns’, Marius Gabriel is the author of more than forty books, He has been in print since 1983 when as a postgraduate student he sold his first book to Mills & Boon to subsidise his research. Using the pen name of Madeleine Ker, Marius went on to be published by Mills & Boon for more than twenty years. Under his own name, he is the bestselling author of many historical novels, including The Girls in the Attic, The Ocean Liner and The Parisians. In 2018 his novel The Designer won the Romantic Novelists Association Award for Historical Novel of the Year, making Marius one of only two men using their own name to win an RNA award in the organisation’s 58-year history.
In 2024 Marius moves to Embla Books for the first of two new historical novels set around World War 2. The first of these, The German Daughter, will be published in June 2024.
