Anna & Jacqui Burns
Anna and Jacqui Burns are a mother and daughter writing team. They live over two hundred miles apart and write their multi-viewpoint novels by emailing chapters back and fore. Fascinated by human nature, they love creating scrapes, mishaps and crises to challenge their characters and see how they react. Anna, a psychiatrist, and Jacqui, a lecturer, are both busy women but the accountability of writing as part of a team keeps them on track and they agree most of the time! Their debut novel, Love at Café Lompar (Honno Press, 2021), was shortlisted for the 2022 RNA Katie Fforde Debut Romantic Novel Award (details here), and a sequel, A Wedding at Cafe Lompar (Honno Press) was published in 2022. Their novels focus on strong but relatable women at the centre of the family and community.
When not writing, they can be found chatting on FaceTime, shopping and visiting restaurants, purely for research purposes.
Anna and Jacqui’s new novel, Poles Apart, in which four women stuck in a rut come together when they sign up for pole dancing classes in a Pembrokeshire village, will be published by Allison and Busby in Spring 2024.
